この夏の来日で、たくさんの友人たちやファンの方々にお会いできたことは本当に幸せなことでした。
特に今回は、3月11日に日本を襲った大惨事の傷跡が残る中でのことでしたので、その思いは尚更でした。この復興には本当に多くの方々がとても長い年月を要することと思います。
日本と、この国の素晴らしい人々は、私の人生と心の中で、とても特別な存在で、私はよく「日本に“帰ってきた”」と言ってしまうほどです。
1978年に初めて来日して以来、日本へ来る度にいつもたくさんの方々が、私にたっぷりの愛情と優しさと寛容さを示して下さいます。
12月にはまた日本へ戻ってきます。
その時には私の心からの想いと愛を、私にできるたったひとつの方法 — 歌と音楽に心を込めて、お伝えしようと思っています。
来日中に私を見かけた時にはいつでも"Hello"と声をかけてください。
みなさんにお会いすることをとても楽しみにしています。
On my visit to Japan this summer I was very happy to see so many friends and fans, and especially in the aftermath of the terrible catastrophe which struck Japan on March 11th, which I know will affect so many people for a very long time to come.
Japan and its wonderful people hold a very special place in my heart and in my life, so much so that I often refer to Japan as “coming home”. Since my first visit in 1978 and every time I come, the people have always shown me so much love, warmth and generosity
I will be returning again in December and I will try to show my sincere affection and thoughts in the only way that I can - by expressing my emotions and love through my heartfelt singing and music.
If you happen to see me on this visit, or anytime, I do hope you will come up and say “hello” to me, because I would love to see you.
